Words Made From the Letters in ACCENT

Published 9 October 2026, 3 minute read

The letters in ACCENT (A, C, C, E, N, T) make one 6-letter word, ACCENT, and one common 5-letter word, ENACT. They also make six common 4-letter words (ACNE, ANTE, CANE, CANT, CENT, NEAT) and twelve common 3-letter words.

The lists below are grouped by length. Words marked as Scrabble-only are valid in Scrabble word lists but rare in everyday English.

6-letter word

WordMeaning
ACCENTA way of pronouncing a language, emphasis on a syllable, or a mark on a letter

ACCENT is the only word that uses all six letters. There is no other anagram. If you came here for the written kind of accent, our accent mark names page explains each one.

5-letter word

WordMeaning
ENACTTo make into law, or to act out a role or scene

ENACT is the only common 5-letter English word you can make from these letters. If a word game asks for a 5-letter answer from ACCENT, try ENACT first.

ETA is the seventh letter of the Greek alphabet, and also short for "estimated time of arrival" in everyday use.

Check the dictionary your game uses

The Scrabble-only words in the 4 and 3-letter lists should be checked in the dictionary your game uses before you play them. North American Scrabble uses the TWL (Tournament Word List) family, while most other countries use Collins Scrabble Words. The two lists differ, and a word accepted in one may be challenged off the board in the other. Online games and apps may use their own list too.

The common words (ACCENT, ENACT, ACNE, ANTE, CANE, CANT, CENT, NEAT and the common 3-letter words) are standard English and safe in any game.

Scrabble tips for ACCENT

  • Scores: with standard English tile values, ACCENT is worth 10 points and ENACT 7, before bonus squares. The two C tiles (3 points each) carry most of the value, so try to place a C on a double or triple letter square.
  • Hooks: ACCENT takes an S to make ACCENTS, and ENACT takes an S to make ENACTS. ACE, ACT, ANT, CAN, CAT, NET, TAN, TEA and TEN all take an S too.
  • Two Cs are awkward. If you hold A, C, C, E, N, T, ACCENT clears both Cs in one move. If the board has no room, ENACT or CENT gets rid of one.

How to unscramble ACCENT by hand

If you are working from a rack of tiles rather than this list, a simple method finds most words quickly.

  1. Separate vowels and consonants. ACCENT has two vowels (A, E) and four consonants (C, C, N, T). Most short words need at least one vowel, so build around A and E.
  2. Try common endings. Many English words end in -NT or -CT. That points straight to CENT, CANT, ACT and ENACT.
  3. Try a final E. Putting E at the end gives CANE, ACNE and ANTE.
  4. Use both Cs only once. Only ACCENT uses both C tiles. Every shorter word uses one C or none.

Wordle and other 5-letter games

In Wordle-style games, ENACT is the only common candidate from these letters. It tests E, N, A, C and T in one guess, five common letters. If you are solving a puzzle that gives you exactly the letters A, C, C, E, N, T, the 6-letter answer is ACCENT.

If your puzzle is a crossword clue about accents rather than an anagram, see our accent mark crossword clues for answers such as UMLAUT and DIACRITIC. To type letters with accents for other word games, try the click-to-copy tools on the homepage or browse the accent letters list.
